Development Prototype: Puget Sound Ecosystem Portfolio Model

About Us

The PSEPM is part of a suite of Ecosystem Portfolio Model (EPM) tools developed at the USGS Western Geographic Science Center that provide web-based decision-support at the regional level. The South Florida Ecosystem Portfolio Model is a regional land-use planning web tool that integrates ecological, economic, and social information and values of relevance to decision-makers and stakeholders. The Santa Cruz Watershed Ecosystem Portfolio Model characterizes ecological, economic, and societal endpoints that are sensitive to climate patterns, regional water budgets, and regional land-use/land-cover change in the Santa Cruz Watershed located in Arizona and Sonora, Mexico.

Dr. Bill Labiosa
, USGS. Dr. Labiosa is the project manager and Principal Investigator on the Puget Sound Ecosystem Portfolio Model, funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. His current research interests involve regional ecosystem services assessments for supporting ecosystems restoration and land-use decision-making. He is a member of the Puget Sound Partnership Science Panel.

Dr. Kristin Byrd
, USGS, is a physical scientist working the PSEPM Beach Armoring Index and Shellfish Polution Model. Dr. Byrd has published in the areas of links between watershed land use and wetland disturbance/ecosystem response, urban growth modeling for alternative future scenarios, and consequences of rural residential development patterns on land management.
