Data-Collection Sites (as of 07/22/2013)

The U.S. Geological Survey currently operates about 230 data-collection sites for acquiring information on surface water, groundwater, water quality, and rainfall in the State of Hawaii and Territory of Guam in cooperation with Federal, State, and local agencies. About 100 of the sites are equipped with telemetry, which enable the posting of real-time data to the Internet for public dissemination.

Continued operation of USGS gages relies on cooperative funding from Federal, State, and local agencies. When a funding source indicates that it can no longer support a gage, the gage is at risk for discontinuation and is identified as a threatened and endangered gage.
