Manoa Stream at Kanewai Field, Honolulu

USGS site 16242500

Manoa Stream at Kanewai Field, Honolulu -- urban land-use site.

Manoa Stream at Kanewai Field, Honolulu -- urban land-use site.

This urban land-use site is located in the Honolulu area of Oahu at an altitude of about 38 ft and has a drainage area of 5.99 square miles. The upper 60 percent of the drainage is largely forested (conservation) land; the lower 40 percent is largely urban land. A continuous record of streamflow has been collected at this site since January 1999. This site was part of the fixed-site network for water-column studies during the period March 1999 through February 2001. Bed-sediment and fish-tissue samples were collected as part of an occurrence survey of trace elements and hydrophobic organic compounds in the fall of 1998. Fish samples were also collected and analyzed for hydrophobic organic compounds as part of a spatial distribution survey in the summer of 2000. In addition, ecological studies were conducted at this site in the summer of 1999.
