Florida Bay - Nest Key - Collecting Samples

(This photo is a 360-degree IPIX interactive image, which allows you to navigate with your mouse: up, down, right and left, in order to see the entire surrounding landscape.)

When the photo is first loaded you are standing in the waters of Florida Bay looking at a USGS scientist who has exited a boat to locate a groundwater sampling well. Thick, white clouds lay on the horizon.

As you continue to the right, the shoreline of Nest Key comes into view and the sky darkens. A bit further right and the mangrove-forested Nest Key is seen full-on. Growing in the waters just off the shoreline of the Key, arched, prop roots grow from a solitary mangrove.

Continuing to the right, in the foreground, another solitary mangrove with propped roots comes into view. Nest Key is seen behind.

Just before you complete the full 360-degree turn, the open waters of Florida Bay come into view. Thick, white clouds float above.

Navigating up with your mouse, you can see the cloudy sky. Navigating down, you see the South Florida Information Access (SOFIA) web site logo, which is linked to the SOFIA main page (http://sofia.usgs.gov).
