The National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council's Ocean Studies Board conducted a program review of the Coastal and Marine Geology Program at the Woods Hole Field Center on November 23 and 24, 1998. Talks, displays, tours, and briefing books were prepared for the panel review. In an e-mail to the Woods Hole staff Jeff Williams said, "The 2-day program was an excellent summary of the good science going on, relevance and importance of the research to the public and cooperators outside the Survey, and genuine enthusiasm and dedication for the work that we do." The next reviews will be held in Menlo Park on January 20-21, 1999, in St. Petersburg on February 22-23, 1999, and then a wrap-up session in Washington, DC, later in the spring.
