Woods Hole Field Center Arrivals
Michael Casso began another appointment (Enviro Temp) at the WHFC, working as a geologist with Mike Bothner on environmental projects in Boston Harbor and Massachusetts Bay. Michael recently worked with an engineering company concerned with contaminated ground water on the Massachusetts Military Reservation. Vanessa Lawrence joined the WHFC staff on June 28, 1999. She was hired through a grant from the USGS Human Resources Program. Vanessa is a student at Falmouth High School and will be working on the Contaminated Sediments Database Projects. Jenna Hill joined the WHFC staff this month as an ECO hire. She will be working with Dave Foster and the Seafloor Mapping Group on archiving seismic data from New York Bight and southern Long Island to CD-ROM. Taras Gapotchenko is working at the WHFC as a summer student in the Pollution Group. He joins us from Wesleyan University where he works in a laboratory studying Long Island Sound foraminifera. Taras will be helping in the chemistry lab for the summer. Lauren Coad is visiting the WHFC as a volunteer for science. She is splitting her time with the Pollution Group by working in the chemistry and the sediment laboratories. Lauren is from England and attends St. Andrews University in Scotland. She spent the past school year at the University of Pennsylvania.
