Bonnie McGregor (Eastern Regional Director), Bill Carswell (Northeast Region Hydrologist), and various specialists from WRD spent three days in Woods Hole with the New England WRD District Chiefs conducting their annual New England District Review on April 25th through 27th. Several Woods Hole scientists listened to the district overviews to gain a better understanding of some of the local hydrological issues. Each of the WRD District Chiefs expressed their appreciation in getting to know the WHFC and staff. Despite the pressures of the review, most of the District Chiefs had some time to explore how Woods Hole and the Districts could develop more robust cooperative research projects that might bring the Divisions closer together.

Mary Foley, Chief Scientist for the Northeast Region of the National Park Service, visited Woods Hole on May 12th to meet with Dave Russ and several USGS scientists to discuss strategies for conducting collaborative work in the National Seashores of the northeast. Discussions rapidly zeroed in on coastal processes at the Fire Island National Seashore. Rich Signell, Jeff List (WHFC) and Chris Sherwood (Menlo) will take the lead in developing two separate proposals to address park science needs at this location.
