Richie Williams (WHFC) spoke on "USGS: Current Challenges and Future Opportunities," and Keith Kvenvolden (Menlo Park) addressed "A Scientist's Research Career in the U.S. Geological Survey." During a half-day field trip to the Monterey Bay marine research institutions, field trip leaders Steve Eittrem, Terry Bruns, and Bruce Richmond (Menlo Park) gave presentations on "Offshore Geology South of the Monterey Canyon" at the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories of California State University.

The meeting was also attended by USGS Director Chip Groat, Regional Chief Geologists Bonnie McGregor, Tom Casadevall, and Doug Buffington, the Chief Scientist for Hydrology Mary Jo Baedecker, Ron Oremland from the National Research Program, and other scientists and managers.
