Sue Hunt's Recycling Efforts Win Award for USGS
The Closing the Circle annual awards program was established by the Clinton administration in 1995, as part of Executive Order 12856, and extended under Executive Order 13101, "Greening the Government Through Waste Prevention, Recycling, and Federal Acquisition." A panel of 18 judges representing academia, industry, and government organizations chose this year's winners, which are listed on the OFEE Web site. (Click on "What's New" and then go to "Environmental Accomplishments to be Honored by the White House." The USGS award is number 28 in the list.) Sue will attend the awards ceremony at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. She has been asked by the DOI Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance to spend an additional day in D.C., advising them on how to set up a reuse program in conjunction with temporary office relocations during modernization of the Main Interior Building.
