USGS National Wetlands Research Center Helps Sponsor Wetlands Meeting July 2001 in this issue:  previous story | next story The USGS National Wetlands Research Center (NWRC) was one of several cooperating sponsors of the 2001 National Symposium and Membership Meeting of the Association of State Wetland Managers, held in Baton Rouge, La., June 19th-21st. The meeting's theme was "Coastal and Estuarine Wetland Restoration into the New Millennium: Improving Effectiveness." NWRC staff presenting theme-related papers included Center Director Robert Stewart and Branch Chiefs Virginia Burkett, James B. Johnston, and Edward Proffitt. Virginia is also on the association's national and Louisiana advisory committees. Attendees Colleen Charles and Susan Wells represented the USGS headquarters in Reston, Va.
