During the week of April 7 to 11, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientist Bob Morton (St. Petersburg, FL) presented a talk entitled "Probable Production-Induced Subsidence, Fault Reactivation, and Wetland Loss in the Gulf Coast Region" at the USGS' National Wetlands Resource Center in Lafayette, LA, at the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources in Baton Rouge, and at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' New Orleans District office.

The presentation summarized the results of a USGS study conducted recently in Louisiana and Texas that has implications for coastal-restoration issues. After his talk, Bob was contacted by reporters from the Baton Rouge Advocate and the New Orleans Times-Picayune, and he was asked to make another presentation in New Orleans on May 13 before a committee that advises the State of Louisiana on coastal-restoration issues.
