B248 Fire


Moderate burn over about half of the plot with light charring of understory. Slight consumption of duff. 3-5% consumption of medium down fuels. Soil cover and color unchanged. 25-35% grasses, small shrubs, and forbs burned in understory, 70% resprouting. Slight increase in colonizers. 30% shrub and small tree layer change in cover, impacts mostly to small conifers. 50-60% of intermediate trees burned, showing 5-15% torch and 30-40% scorch/girdle of trees that burned. Char height is < .5 m. Low tree mortality. Stratum A has lowest impacts. Black Spruce/Tussock Tundra community.
