Consistent burn with light charring of understory. < 10% consumption of litter and light fuels. < 5% consumption of duff with light charring. < 5% consumption of medium down fuels, and 10-20% of heavy down fuels consumed. No change in soil cover and color. > 95% of stratum B low vegetation burned, but moderate survivorship and no increase in new colonizers. Stratum C not present in plot. > 95% of intermediate trees burned with > 95% scorch/girdle impacts, and 60% mortality. 45-55% of big trees burned with 45-55% scorch/girdle impacts, and 25% mortality. Char height < 2 m. Low rating in stratum A pulls down overall CBI average for plot. Mediterranean California conifer forest and woodland community.
