85% burn with moderate charring of understory. 70-80% consumption of litter and light fuels. 70-80% consumption of duff with some deep charring. 35-45% of medium down fuels consumed, and > 40% of heavy down fuels consumed with deep char. > 80% change in soil cover. A fair amount of new litter fall. 70% of grasses, small shrubs, and forbs in understory remain living, with no change in amount of new colonizers. 25-35% small trees burned in understory with 60% living. 55-65% of intermediate tree crowns remain green with 35-45% torch/char impacts. > 98% of big trees remain green with < 2% crown char. Overall tree mortality is 35%. Char height < 2.5 m. High rating in strata A increases overall plot CBI average. California Red Fir forest and woodland community type.
