95% burn with moderate charring of understory. 100% consumption of litter. 40-50% consumption of duff. 30-40% consumption of medium down fuels; > 40% consumption of heavy down fuels with deep char. About 10% change in soil cover. Most all grasses, small shrubs, and forbs burned in understory, with about 20% living and slight increase in new colonizers. 90% of stratum C, consisting only of conifers, show signs of scorch or char, none are living. 35-45% of intermediate trees are green with crowns showing 55-65% torch/char and 5-15% scorch/girdle impacts. 50-60% of big tree crowns are green with 40-50% torch and 5-15% scorch/girdle impacts. 40% intermediate and big tree mortality. Char height < 3 m. Low rating in B strata pulls down overall CBI average for plot. Mediterranean California mesic mixed conifer forest and woodland community type.
