90% burn with moderately high charring of understory. 100% consumption of litter and > 80% of light fuels. 70-80% consumption of duff. > 60% consumption of medium down fuels; > 40% consumption of heavy down fuels with some deep char. 20-30% change in soil cover. 75-85% of grasses, small shrubs, and forbs burned in understory; about 40% survive. Moderate to high increase in amount of new colonizers. > 95% of tall shrubs and small trees burned; high mortality mostly to sapling conifers. 55-65% of intermediate trees are green with < 3% char/torch and 55-65% scorch/girdle impacts. 45-55% of big trees are green with 45-55% scorch/girdle impacts. Moderate new litter fall evident. 30% overstory tree mortality. Char height < 2.8 m. Mediterranean California Red Fir forest and woodland community type.
