USGS Open House KickOff with Federal and State Leaders

The U.S. Geological Survey’s Deputy Director, Robert Doyle, will join California’s Director of Conservation, the California State Geologist, and Menlo Park City Council members to kick off the Open House at the USGS Science Center in Menlo Park, California.

“USGS enthusiastically opens its doors this weekend to show its Bay Area neighbors the great science that we do,” said Anne Kinsinger, USGS Western Region Director  “It’s an honor to welcome the State Geologist as we celebrate the many important partnerships that add vitality to our science.”

WHEN: Friday, May 15, 2009, at 10:00 a.m.

WHERE: 345 Middlefield Road, Menlo Park.  Ceremony will be outside on the steps in front of Building 3 (on the flag pole circle)

WHAT: Opening Ceremony and Preview Day for USGS Open House. The USGS will open its doors to partners and school groups on Friday, May15. Visiting dignitaries will speak briefly, and groups of school children will participate in special activities. Reporters are invited to preview the open house exhibits.

The general public is invited to attend the USGS Open House from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 16 & 17. Admission to the Open House is free of charge.
