Boise, Idaho — The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has named David M. Evetts as the Assistant Director for Hydrologic Data for its Idaho Water Science Center, headquartered in Boise. Evetts will oversee a statewide network of USGS streamflow, groundwater-level, and water-quality monitoring sites, as well as four field offices.

Since 2002, Evetts has served as the Elko Field Office Chief for the USGS Nevada Water Science Center.

Evetts began his USGS career in 1998 as a student hydrologist in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering. After graduation, Evetts moved to Carson City, Nevada, where he focused on monitoring groundwater levels and water quality. He is the co-author of two USGS scientific reports.

The USGS Idaho Water Science Center provides reliable, impartial scientific information about surface and ground water, water quality, and water use to citizens and to local, state, tribal, and federal cooperators. In addition to the Boise headquarters, the center has field offices in Boise, Post Falls, Twin Falls, and Idaho Falls, as well as a project office at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls.
