To get more information on water and earth resources and hazards in your state, try the new state fact sheet series by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The new fact sheets summarize key USGS investigations and assessments of known and potential resources and hazards in each state and suggest sources for additional information.

These fact sheets identify specific studies on a wide range of topics, including earthquakes, floods, water-resource and geologic assessments plus maps of the land surface. In addition, a growing number of fact sheets are available on specific topics ranging from the Chesapeake Bay to bioremediation, hazards and managing the Nation’s water resources.

The USGS is also experimenting with some new ways to get this information to the public, including on-line access through the Internet and on-demand facsimile service, as well as toll-free telephone numbers.

Factsheets and other information are available several ways:

World WideWeb at http://www.usgs.gov

EarthFax (fax machine service) at 703-648-4888

Telephone, call 1-800-ASK-USGS.

For other Water Information and Products call: 1-800-H2O (426)-9000

For Geologic Information and Products call: 703-648-4383

Or write: USGS, 119-G National Center, Reston, VA, 22092

The USGS serves the nation by providing reliable scientific information to describe and understand the Earth; minimize loss of life and property from natural disasters; manage water, biological, energy, and mineral resources; and enhance and protect our quality of life.
